International Year of Youth Slogan Consultation |
To spread the word about the International Year of Youth, the UN Programme on Youth is looking for a powerful 1 to 5 word slogan that encapsulates the Year and its theme, Dialogue and Mutual Understanding. From 25 January to 12 February 2010, you will have the chance to suggest a slogan for the International Year and to vote on your favourites through the “like” function. The final slogan will be selected by the UN Programme on Youth and will be used in communications for the International Year. For logistical reasons, we are unfortunately only able to accept suggestions in English. The winning slogan will, however, be translated into all official languages of the United Nations.
To suggest a slogan, visit the Facebook group "Slogan for the International Year of Youth" at:http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/profile.php?ref=profile&id=100000636643703 today!
Continue spreading the word about the International Year and the consultation on the slogan to your friends and among your networks. Follow up the website of the Year at http://social.un.org/youthyear/ for regular updates. |

KNZ voices its concern with regards to the present uproar in public debate on censorship of arts. As representative of youths, KNZ believes in youths as catalysts of evolution and protects their right and duty to fulfill such a role in society. Art in itself is a spontaneous sphere of humanity. KNZ suggests realistic measures to avoid the hindering of artistic expression, especially by youths, simply because such artistic expression is not based on conventional methods, whilst such measures protect the vulnerabilities of society.
Youths should continuously be driven towards creativity to develop their talents. In turn, this creativity ensures that our nation will retain economic, political and artistic development in the years to come. New unconventional ideas have to be nourished as these have always proven to instigate development, even in the aspect of culture.
KNZ urges the respect towards the fundamental human right of freedom of expression as outlined in Article 10 of The European Convention of Human Rights. In this light however, KNZ also highlights that the exercise of such freedoms shall be carried with duties and responsibilities as highlighted by the same Article of the Convention, and shall not be used frivolously without sense of accountability of one’s actions.
If present legislation is ambiguous or not reflecting today’s society, such as the internet sphere or art in the form of literature, such legislation should be updated with immediate affect so as not to prevent and dishearten youths from conveying art and forms of expression.
KNZ welcomes the Government’s and Opposition’s will to review such legislation through the setting up of a respective committee. KNZ augurs this to be a healthy discussion revolving around the needs of our society and hopes it will not result in a political table-tennis match. The discussion should include views from different segments of society. The ultimate aim shall be that of flourishing artistic freedom whilst protecting the vulnerable along with human dignity. Tangible proposals and improvements with an eye to sustaining a safe environment of freedom of expression would be expected in the shortest time possible.

Reazzjoni ghall-Bagit 2010 |
Bhala reazzjoni inizjali il-KNZ ihoss li dan il-bagit huwa wiehed newtrali minn bagits precidenti. Il-KNZ ihoss li l-proposti prezentati fil-bagit ghas-sena 2010 fil-qasam taz-zghazagh huma progetti li diga qieghdin fis-sehh. Il-KNZ hass li bhala zghazagh kellhom jinghataw iktar prijorita’ u jidhlu fis-sehh fil-generazzjoni li gej. Il-KNZ ihossu kburi li l-progett tal-Kunsill Lokali taz-Zghazagh li beda hu wahdu fil-passat issa qed jahdmu b’mod kongunt bejn il-Kunsill Nazzjonali taz-Zghazagh u l-Gvern.
Waqt li huwa importanti li jkomplu jigu investiti flus fl-iskemi bhal dik tal-Youth Empowerment Centres, nemfasizaw mhux biss investiment fl-operat izda investiment fil-gid taz-zghazagh.
Fil-waqt li l-Kunsill Nazzjonali taz-Zghazagh jaqbel maz-zieda tal-gholi fil-prezz tat-tabakk, din l-istess zieda ghandha tigi vvutata ghal promozzjoni tas-sahha minghajr sigaretti u kif ukoll ghal kura tas-sahha f’dan il-qasam tat-tipjip.
Il-KNZ jara pozittiv f’dan il-Bagit l-program ta’ tahrig li jkun qed jaghti liz-zaghzagh ta’ bejn 16 u 20 sena li ma jkunx mithla tad-dinja tax-xoghol. Il-KNZ jinnota li filwaqt li din il-proposta tghin sabiex iz-zghazagh jidhlu fid-dinja tax-xoghol ghandna nanallizaw x’inhu iwassal sabiex zghazagh jibqghu barra mid-dinja tax-xoghol li tipprovdi sens ta’ sigurta u identita’ ghaz-zghazagh tal-lum. Ghalhekk nemmnu li s-sistema edukattiva ghandha tara li kemm jista jkun zghazagh jiksbu il-kwalifiki bazici sabiex it-transizjoni mill- bankijiet tal-iskola ghal dawk tax-xoghol tkun wahda facilitita b’mod pozittiv.
Il-KNZ ihares il’ quddiem lejn aktar progetti fuq il-kreattivita u l-innovazzjoni u jheggeg sabiex aktar zghazagh juzaw it-talenti taghhom u jkomplu jigu enkoraggiti sabiex jgharfu juzaw l-intelligenza u l-kreattivita’ ghal gid taghhom u tas-socjeta’ in generali.
Il-KNZ jemmen li fil-waqt li aktar zghazagh qeghdin jinghataw opportunitajiet, irridu ingibu f’ mohhna li aktar zghazagh jigu salvagwardati minn abbuzi u kif ukoll realizazzjoni permezz ta’ l-edukazjoni taghti cans sabiex kulhadd jirnexxi kemm fl-intellett u kif ukoll fil-hidma ta’ l-id.
Fil-prezentazzjoni tal-Bagit il-Ministru Tonio Fenech ta x’jifhem li qieghed jara fejn il-familji Maltin u Ghawdxin intlaqtu b’mod negattiv u tajjeb specjalment meta wiehed jikkunsidra l-kontijiet tad-dawl u l-ilma. Il-proposti tal-bagit dwar il-kontijiet tad-dawl u l-ilma meta ghadd ta’ familji ser ikunu qeghdin jibbenifikaw minn ghotjiet li jwiznu lil dawk li juzaw inqas energija. Il-Kunsill iqis li dan il-Bagit qed jiehu hsieb lil dawk il-familji li juzaw l-energija bi l-ghaqal.
F’dan il-bagit jinhas in-nuqqas ta’sorsi finanzjarji u dettalji biex jigu mplimentati riformi fosthom dawk tal-Pensjonijiet u tal-Gustizja Reparatrici.
