Perhaps the one of the most-awaited annual events brought up by KNZ - The National Youth Parliament - saw its closing off today. This event is based around stimulating debate amongst youths with regards to issues of imminent importance to Malta and put forward various resolutions to propose an improvement.
The plenary session of the National Youth Parliament saw all 7 resolutions put forward being approved. These resolutions tackled the environment, education, transport and infrastructure, and illegal immigration in the morning session which was for the participants aged between 13 and 16 and social security, the right to life and creativity and innovation a European Opportunity for those participants aged 17 and over.
The sessions were addressed by the Hon. Dolores Cristina and the Hon. Clyde Puli on behalf of the Government and the Hon. Evarist Bartolo and the Hon. Owen Bonnici on behalf of the Opposition, with Deputy Speaker the Hon. Carmelo Abela chairing the parliamentary simulation held at the Parliament in the House of Representatives.
KNZ National Events Officer Angelo Micallef opened the sessions with a welcome address, seeing KNZ President Sean Meli closing both sessions.
In the coming days and weeks the National Youth Parliament participants shall be meeting the Hon. Prime Minister Dr. Lawrence Gonzi and the Hon. Leader of the Opposition Dr. Joseph Muscat.
KNZ would like to thank the organising committee and all participants for their essential work in bringing up this successful event for another year running.
